...the food might suck but it's what you make out of the experience that makes it worthwhile.

The cool thing about being a pharmacy extern your 4th year is that you can go on educational dinners hosted by drug companies. (TL;DR -- free dinners)

Hunter's Steakhouse is a roadside hole in the wall that's pretty much in the middle of nowhere. All I heard about Hunter's at the hospital was how awesome their steaks were and that it was the best steakhouse in the Columbus vicinity. Even though I went on a Tuesday night, the place was rockin with cars parked on both sides of the road.

These fried lobster tails came out as an appetizer before our entrees. The tail's a pretty decent size, about 6 inches or so. The lobster tails come with a mustard sauce to dip in but they're good just by themselves.

I got the filet as my entree (the only other options were chicken, vegetarian or grouper. The vegetarian option was, wait for it...a grilled cheese LOL). Cooked to rare just like @ATL_Legend says it should be, the filet was tender and well seasoned. The seasoning on the outside has a slight spicy kick to it and a herby undertone as well. I don't remember which herb it was as this was a few months back but I think it was oregano (please do correct me if I am mistaken). The sides were good as well with the better of the 2 being the creamy, buttery mash.

Although I'm not a big dessert eater, I'm not a man to decline when so kindly offered by my hosts. I went with the chocolate cake. All I can say about the cake is that it was huge. Like...it barely fit the hamburger sized to-go box shown above.

Hunter's Pub might not be the most romantic place to go on your anniversary or to take a girl to on a first date but does offer some good grub. I did hear some grumbles on Urbanspoon about a price increase but when I went, the food was on the cheaper side compared to its Columbus counterparts. Regardless of the random complaints (and trust me, there are some real retarded ones on these public review sites) the popularity of this restaurant is deserved and is a worthwhile trek from the Columbus area for a chill, carefree dinner.
